Platelets are used to produce PLATELET RICH PLASMA.  Platelet rich plasma contains concentrated levels of platelets, growth factors and WHITE BLOOD CELLS. Concentrated platelet levels are 4 to 12 times greater than in whole blood.  Platelet rich plasma is injected directly into injured tendons and ligaments of humans, equine, canines and felines.  Platelet rich plasma is the precursor of platelet gel.

Historically, tendonitis treatment has included anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid injections and inactivity. These treatments focus on reducing inflammation. Platelet rich plasma therapy seeks to heal the underlying condition in addition to reducing inflammation.
